BUSQOM 1085 - APPLIED BUSINESS ANALYTICS PROJECTMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 Long Description This is an Experience Based Learning ("EBL") course that will give students a background in business analytic techniques, tools, and processes taught through a consulting-team orientation. Business analytics, in an EBL environment, is a form of active learning that values critical thinking and problem solving. In addition, the thrust of the class will be focused on a hands-on application of business analytics through a partnership with a "to-be-named company" ("Partner Organization", "Partner", "Client"). The student team will strive to understand and predict an important aspect of Partner's business. Applied Business Analytics Project, as an EBL project course, has two components: One third of the class is composed of discussions led by the instructors regarding the understanding of business analytics concepts/theory, methodologies and tools. Two thirds of the class are a team-oriented project in partnership with the Partner Organization where the team, guided by the instructor(s), will apply advanced business analytics to solve a critical business problem or opportunity for the Partner Organization. The team project is analogous to a consulting team functioning as Advanced Business Analytics experts. To simulate reality, the student team will work with the Partner Organization's personnel. The student team will progress through business analytics assessment, problem definition, and application process that will culminate in a report with a strategy (and hopefully an advanced analytics model) to the Partner Organization that the team should expect the Partner Organization to implement. This course is designated as a capstone course and is required for all Analytics majors Academic Career: Undergraduate Course Component: Lecture Grade Component: Letter Grade Course Requirements: CREQ: BUSQOM 1760
