SA 1330 - DRAWING STUDIO: PROJECTSMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 Long Description Drawing Studio: Projects is an advanced studio course with an emphasis on student driven drawing-based projects. We will work from a broad definition of drawing with an open approach to materials and methods. Student work may explore observational or abstract drawing but may also include exploration of the intersection of drawing with other forms including performance, installation, textiles, and video. The class will consider the works of contemporary artists whose work is significantly engaged with drawing within the context of the complex landscape of contemporary art. Open ended prompts will be given to spark student works. In addition to a sequence of projects that will build and unfold over the course of the semester, students will keep a sketchbook throughout the semester as a place to gather notes, resources, and ideas. There may be short readings to complement discussion. We will workshop and offer feedback on projects and immerse ourselves in the possibilities of drawing-based art through close study of a wide range of examples.
