DC 3137 - MEDICAL SCREENING & DIAGNOSIS: CHEST AND ABDOMENMinimum Credits: 2 Maximum Credits: 2 This course will introduce students to medical screening of the heart, lungs and abdomen in a general physical examination and to identify common pathologies. The lecture portion of this course will be offered both synchronously and/or asynchronously and will explain the relevance of said screening in different clinical settings and instrumentation fundamentals. Using an interprofessional educational model, the lab portion of the course will allow students to become familiar with the use of the stethoscope to identify normal and abnormal heart sounds, prevalent respiratory pathologies, normal and abnormal sounds of the abdomen including the abdominal aorta. The abdominal palpatory examination will also be taught in the lab. When possible or as needed, simulators and simulations will be used.
