CSD 1033 - PERSPECTIVES ON SOCIAL JUSTICE IN COMMUNICATION SCIENCE AND DISORDERSMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course provides students with an overall understanding of social justice in speech- language pathology and audiology, approaches to anti-racism in the field of communication disabilities, ableism, child socialization practices, bilingual language development, and communication disabilities across our diverse society and cultural humility in the assessment of and intervention with children and adults with speech, language, and hearing disabilities. The focus of the course will be on least-biased speech and language assessment and treatment for children with linguistic characteristics not captured by traditional methods of assessment and intervention developed for English speakers (specifically white variety English speakers).
