CHIN 0009 - BEGINNING CHINESE FOR PROFESSIONALS 2Minimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course is a continuation of CHIN0008 Beginning Chinese for Professionals I, designed to enhance both linguistic accuracy and conversational competence across professional fields, including business, law, medicine, and technology. Students will focus on language proficiency for professional communication, everyday exchanges, industry-specific inquiries, and client or patient interactions. In addition to developing language skills, students will explore the cultural contexts where professional interactions occur, with topics such as professional etiquette concerning culinary customs, negotiation over dining, and wellness discussions in both social and workplace settings. By the end of the course, students will have improved their proficiency and be equipped with the linguistic and cultural tools to conduct simple communications in Chinese in both written and spoken form while demonstrating sensitivity to the expectations and practices of target culture norms in their respective professions.
