Maximum Credits: 3
The Research Tutorial course is one in which a small cohort of students work both independently and collaboratively as they develop and carry out independent research projects with the goal of producing unique contributions to literary studies and of preparing for further education or research-oriented careers. Along with a structure that leads students through research processes, students receive one-on-one guidance and support from the professor. Students will learn to formulate productive research inquiries, to identify necessary resources and archives, to create a bibliography of literary and critical texts, and to define an appropriate scope in relationship to timeframe and goals. Students will gain advanced skills in research-based writing based on intensive, individual feedback from the instructor. Students will also learn how to write fellowship proposals, conference abstracts, and other digests of their research.
