As business imperatives and the environment in which businesses operate continue to change, the need to address complex challenges of interconnectedness and responsible value creation have never been more pressing than today. The course will provide you with an exposure to the debates around sustainability and the purpose of the firm, an understanding of the core principles and ways of conceptualizing sustainability in organizations and the requisite leadership, some tools and techniques to think about measurement and impact, and perspectives to navigate the challenges of leading and managing multiple stakeholders. Through a mix of cases, activities, readings, exposure to underlying theories and principles, and by engaging in a sustainability simulation firsthand, you will become familiar with the sustainability challenges businesses face today and the leadership challenges and approaches required to navigate the current business landscape. In essence, the course will focus on the 'what' and 'how' of leading, strategizing, planning, executing, and monitoring socially responsible and sustainable practices of companies.
