DENT 5925 - ACCELERATED CLINICAL DENTISTRY FOR PATIENTS WITH SPECIAL HEALTH CARE NEEDSMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This is a clinical selective course offered to fourth-year students that wish to gain additional hands-on experience treating Patients with Special Healthcare Needs. The commitment time involves a minimum of 12 clinical sessions (1/2 day sessions) during the weeks between the summer semester of 3rd year and the fall semester of the fourth year (ie, summer "break"). The grade for this course will be recorded during the fall semester of the fourth year. This clinical course will be an intense and condensed version of the semester-long selective in CPSN which is typically offered in the fall or spring. The selective student will typically function as the primary care provider for patients with varying degrees of special needs, often including the treatment of patients who are receiving various forms of sedation. The student will also be responsible for all discussions and communications with the family members/caregivers of these patients.
