HPS 2365 - ANIMAL COGNITIONMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course examines current issues in the science of animal cognition. Specific topics may include whether animals have beliefs, semantically meaningful communication, episodic memory, the capacity to track the mental states of others, the capacity for reasoning, causal cognition, emotions, and consciousness. The course may also consider the different roles played by laboratory and field studies of animal behavior in the discussion about the tractability of animal minds as a target of scientific investigation.
