CLRES 2400 - QUALITATIVE RESEARCH METHODS I : THEORY & DESIGNMinimum Credits: 1 Maximum Credits: 1 What are the study designs, data collection methods, analytical approaches, and theoretical frameworks used by qualitative researchers? How should the quality and rigor of qualitative research be assessed? In this course, we will analyze a range of qualitative studies and discuss principles that should guide the selection of qualitative research strategies (e.g., sampling, data collection methods, analytical approaches, theoretical models). By the end of the course, you will be equipped to review a qualitative manuscript, respond to reviewer comments, and work effectively with qualitative methodologists. This course provides necessary background for students new to qualitative research and prepares students for Qualitative Research Methods II (CLRES 2401), which offers hands-on practice using qualitative methods.
