PS 1504 - NATIONALISMMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 Theories of nationalism, ethnicity, and race are examined and are contrasted with theories of modernization and socialism. Particular emphasis is placed on ethnonationalism in developed Western countries, such as Britain, France, Spain, Belgium, and Canada, and on ethnic politics in the U.S. Comparisons are drawn with nationalism in other types of political systems, particularly the USSR, Yugoslavia, and selected Middle East and African countries.
