ANTH 1755 - URBAN ANTHROPOLOGYMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 How do different people make lives in urban environments? What social, cultural, and political phenomena are unique to cities? What can city life teach us about what it means to be human in all its extraordinary diversity? This course takes an interdisciplinary approach to studying urban life, exploring themes such as migration; informal settlements and economies; infrastructures; violence; race and social stratification; social networks; and artistic production. A special focus is put on cities from the Global South.
