PS 1341 - GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS USSR/RUSSIAN FEDERATIONMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 A survey of the political systems in the USSR (1917-1991) and its major successor, the Russian Federation (1991-present). The first section deals with the period from the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917 until the mid-1980s. The second section examines the efforts to reform the political system under general Secretary Gorbachev. The final section deals with the collapse of the USSR in 1991 and the subsequent development of the Russian Federation as an independent state.
