PS 1333 - GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS OF JAPANMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course considers postwar Japanese government and politics in comparative perspective. Topics to be covered include the following: the American occupation, Japanese society, political culture, election system and election campaigns, government and political leader ship, the ruling party, opposition parties, protest movements, the parliamentary and policymaking processes. Frequent comparisons will be made between the Japanese system and other democratic systems in North America and Europe.
