ANTH 2735 - ECONOMIC ANTHROPOLOGYMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course focuses on major trends and debates in economic anthropology, with an emphasis on economic change and the impact of industrialization and capitalism on the "third world" peoples. Particular attention will be placed on economic theory in anthropology, the nature and "future" of peasants as an analytical category, markets and market places, "moral economy" approaches, agricultural intensification, development and underdevelopment, and anthropological approaches to political economy.
