AFRCNA 1145 - AFRICAN AMERICAN RHETORICMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 The purposes of this course are a historical-critical review of scholarship in black American rhetoric; and a theoretical-conceptual framework for the study of black American rhetoric. This course places considerable emphasis on the African roots of black American rhetoric, but the ultimate concern is with black Americans' behavior. The course covers consequences of African and European inter actions in America, factors that forged the distinctive aspects of black American rhetoric, the effects of culture, racism, colonialism, and social class on communication.
