FMST 1235 - JAPANESE CULTURE AND SOCIETY THROUGH CINEMAMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course provides a critical study of selected international prize winning Japanese films and compares these films with Western films dealing with similar themes. The student learns to analyze and interpret films; becomes familiar with particular genres of Japanese films compared with Western; studies the history of Japanese cinema and its place in international cinematography and exposes the inter cultural benefits of judging the content of the films from oriental and Western aesthetic perspectives.
