BIOSC 1855 - INTRODUCTION TO MICROBIOLOGY LABORATORYMinimum Credits: 1 Maximum Credits: 1 Students in this course will culture microorganisms from natural samples such as soil, vegetables, and their own skin, and learn various methods in the process of studying the organisms they have cultured. The topics for the course include (a) survey types of microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi, protozoa, algae, and bacterial viruses, (b) types of methods used to culture and study these microorganisms, (c) some practical applications of microbiology such as microbiological analysis of wastewater, and identification of clinical isolates.
