BIOSC 1520 - DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGYMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 The mechanisms of animal development will be analyzed. The first half of the course will emphasize classic embryological investigations focusing on how the embryonic body plan becomes organized, while the second half will deal primarily with the genetic and molecular regulation of development. The experimental analysis of such processes as fertilization, morphogenetic movements, tissue interactions, pattern formation, and gene expression will be discussed using examples from a variety of animal embryos, and by discussion of the current research literature.
