FMST 1230 - GLOBAL ANIMEMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course introduces the arts, history, and culture of Japanese animation (anime) in a global context. We will focus on analyzing the forms and idioms of anime in relation to changing technological conditions and the media environment. Students are expected to relate the aesthetic and cultural characteristics of anime with their own experience of digital technologies, and to expand their interest in anime to wider theoretical questions about techno-culture and new media. This is a Critical Studies course and counts for Category I towards the Film and Media Studies major and minor.
