CLRES 2500 - INTRODUCTION TO PATIENT ORIENTED RESEARCH IN AGINGMinimum Credits: 2 Maximum Credits: 2 Provides an overview of conceptual and pragmatic issues in the design and implementation of patient-oriented research involving older adults. A brief summary of the current status of older adult health, disease, living situations, and health care in the United States will be followed by a systematic study of the effects of aging and chronic disease on research issues related to sampling, recruitment, consent, measurement, censoring, intervention, analysis, and research in special settings. Students are expected to demonstrate integration of information provided over the course of the semester by creating an original grant proposal for a research project involving aging adults. Alternatively, students who have previously completed a research proposal for another purpose can critique and revise their proposal using the content of this course. CRTP trainees who are working toward the master's degree may use their final grant proposal as the basis for the thesis or substantive research project required for completion of the area of concentration in aging and chronic disease.
