HIST 1686 - WAR AND MILITARY IN UNITED STATESMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 A lecture-discussion course on the roles military systems play in international and national affairs, as well as in the social and economic life of the U.S. the effects that wars and military service have on the individual, the family, the economy, and politics are also addressed. This is not a course on battles, tactics, logistics, strategy, and command. It is concerned with recruitment and social origins of military personnel; training and value inculcation; combat behavior and morale; war crimes and the laws of war; civil military relations; veterans; and inter-service rivalry.
