HIM 1490 - ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORDSMinimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course addresses theoretical and pragmatic issues related to EHR technology, such as design and development, standards and clinical terminologies, privacy and security issues, model EHR systems, evaluation of EHR software systems, and outcomes research using the EHR will be addressed. The responsibilities of the health information management professional, as well as the requirements of accrediting and licensing agencies related to EHR, will also be discussed. The responsibilities and involvement of various members of the health care team in the development, use, evaluation, and dissemination of EHR technology will be emphasized.
