LIS 2040 - THE INFORMATION PROFESSIONAL IN THE COMMUNITY Minimum Credits: 3 Maximum Credits: 3 This course will provide the context as well as a forum for students to discuss, understand and critique value systems, ethical frameworks and power structures embedded in information technologies, policies, systems and institutions. Emphasizing the importance of design, evaluation and engagement with communities through institutions and technologies ranging from public library systems to start ups, this course foregrounds the role of information professionals as active community members as well as the impact of the information professions on society.
